These really are great, if you use them correctly. To be fair, it sounds like one of the other reviewers thought this was instead of a diaper cover. It is not. You use these in addition to the diaper cover. These are really useful with a newborn baby who has not started solids. With these, you can still use prefolds for a newborn and not get complete "blow outs" because they help hold it in. I used these with prefolds and either a Thirstie diaper cover (which are also great btw) or a wool soaker at night. Wonderful! Now, as baby gets older, I don't need them as often, but still use them every once in a while. Once baby is on more solids and blow outs are a thing of the past, you can just fold a prefold in thirds, lay it in the diaper cover and close it up. I still do use the snappi sometimes when I'm using a wool soaker for nighttime and our fitted diapers are dirty.

Getting them tight enough can be tricky though. Think of them like the little hook things you get with an Ace bandage. It works the same way. You need to hook it in one side then pull tight across the little belly and grab the other side. As the snappi closes up, the hooks should grab the fabric and make a nice tight fit.

I would say about the only drawback to these little guys is that they have pretty sharp teeth! Watch out for grabby babies' hands - these things can hurt a little.

Product Description:
Pack of 6 (2 purple, 2 white, 2 mint green). These are new, never used Snappis, but may not be in product packaging to save mailing costs plus I recycle the packaging. The Snappi? is a safer, more reliable, EASY to use fastener for cloth diapers that replaces the nasty diaper pins. The stretchable non-toxic Snappi? hooks into the diaper material to make a strong closure. They work best with diapers that have a loose enough weave for the Snappi? to hook into. (Snappi? terry cloth diapers, cotton pre-folds, and others) Note they do not work well with flannel or other tightly woven diapers. How to use your Snappi?:To improve elasticity, stretch your Snappi? fastener a few times before use.Step 1: Hook leftStep 2: Stretch across and hook rightStep 3: Stretch down and hook centerThe Snappi? should go from a "T" shape to a "Y" shape when stretched properly.Warning: Always use a cover over a Snappi fastener. Keep out of children's reach when not in use. Do not use a Snappi fastener on toddlers that have the ability to undo or take off their cover/diaper/clothes. Do not use your Snappi for longer than 6 months. Not UV resistant - exposure to the sun can reduce the effectiveness of the Snappi.CAUTION: Any tear in the Snappi can lead to separation of a piece, presenting a possible choking hazard. Inspect the Snappi before each use and discontinue using immediately if there is any sign of cracking, tearing, breakage or wear of the teeth or any other parts. Do not cut a Snappi as this may cause tearing.
