Pros:

Highly absorbent soaker pads. Please note that they must be washed approximately 10 times in hot water to reach maximum absorbency. After that, they are a jewel. (Some customers complain of them not working, but this is simply because they have not been prepped!)

Very attractive shells (for those moms out there who want their kids to be stylish).

Ease of use. Remove the wet soaker pad from the shell, put a new one in.

Optional organic cotton inserts provide additional absorbency for those "heavy wetters" or for overnights.

Unbelievable customer support. The owner really cares about her product (and her customers).

The "one size fits all" feature is wonderful. Grobaby (the previous version) had a lower rise. This has been corrected with the Grovia line, which is wonderful for larger babies (like my own, who is 16 lbs. and not yet 3 months).

The new soaker pads have a waterproof lining on the bottom. This is an improvement over the previous (Grobaby version), as it prevents the shell from getting wet.

The new shells have laundry tabs to prevent the velcro from catching on other items in the wash. The older version did not have this feature. I never had a problem with this, so I can't attest to the added benefit.

You can purchase shells with velcro (my preference) or snaps. The snaps are thought to last longer, but I like the fit of the velcro better, and, GroVia is great with warranty issues, if something arises. You can even have the velcro converted to snaps if you prefer.

I actually use a snap shell for swimming (without the soaker pad, obviously). It works great!

The shells last through multiple uses. They take very little time to dry. If poo happens to leak into the shell (which is common with breastfeed babies, it is unavoidable), they can be rinsed off successfully and air dried in a few hours. Obviously, you wouldn't do this with the soaker. That needs to be washed. ;O)

Caring for them is much easier than I anticipated. I am a full-time medical student, and I don't mind doing one extra load of laundry every other day.

Optional disposable/compostable inserts. Great for travel!

Cons:

The organic cotton is sensitive to certain products, although I believe this is the case with most cloth diapers. You can't use desitin, for instance, on your baby's bum. The alternative is Magic Stick. It is a great product, lasts forever, and is easy to use.

The soaker pads may stain and/or obtain an ammonia smell. Fortunately, washing them appropriately prevents/removes the ammonia smell, and sunlight takes out the stains. Problem solved!

The soaker pads don't wick away moisture. Oh well, no cloth diapers do. I just make sure to change him every few hours.

In my dryer, soakers take 80 minutes to dry on regular heat (but I also dry them with the All-in-one version which is bulkier, so my experience is obscured).

I haven't been able to successfully use them overnight. However, there are MANY people who have. I used the alternative All-in-one version that is fabulous (even more absorbent than the All-in-two) until my little one decided that he couldn't stand being wet overnight. I currently use a disposable for this. Bummer, but he sleeps better...and so do I.

I have found that most complaints of this product can be corrected with a little bit more knowledge of how to care for it.
